This is one of the most popular floors due to the low installation
cost and potential long lifespan. Vinyl Composite Tile (VCT)
flooring is a high- maintenance floor requiring routine cleaning,
buffing, and recoating with finish (also known as "waxing").
However, an investment in the maintenance of these floors is
required to ensure maximum life span. The reward for spending the
appropriate amount of time on these floors is they can really make

9 Steps VCT re-Finishing Process

Dust-mop to make sure all loose dirt has been
removed and carefully remove any items, like gum, that are stuck
to the floor surface.

Post wet floor signs to advise the public and
employees of the potential slipping hazard.

Apply the stripping solution to small sections
of the floor and let it work for about 5-10 minutes depending on
the materials involved and the condition of the floor.

Using a scrubber with an abrasive pad, we
remove the existing sealer.

Detail corners, edges and hard to reach areas

Extract Slurry.

Rinse floor.
-
Final rinse floor with neutralizer.

Begin to build up coats of finish to achieve
100% solid floor finish.
Most floor finishes are between 17% -
25% solids per coat, as the rest evaporates off. In order to
achieve 100% solids, we would need to apply 6 coats of 17% to
equal 100% (6x17=102).
